Jim's Notes -
Since the first time I heard a
Native American Flute being played I've been inspired by its healing power,
magic, and potential. Its an amazing musical instrument and it's inspirations
drive me in my search for more.
Every person who teaches, performs,
makes, or plays has a different slant on this instrument. This is its
beauty. Its like everyone of us, individual and perfect.
If there's one slant on the Native
American Flute that I feel has not been given enough attention it's this,
why is it so haunting and powerful, what is its symbolic and physical
role and why is it gaining such popularity in our times? How do we open
to it as a healing instrument, how can we journey with it as a sacred
instrument?
I have talked with many regarding
the healing potential of these instruments and it appears the path to
this knowledge is not clearly marked with signs but is instead a journey
of discovery. In my time with the flute I know that this is true.
I consider myself fortunate in
that in my own small way I have been able to offer a little back to continuing
the tradition of these wonderful instruments. Every flute or drum I craft
comes from the heart and soul of me. The book I wrote "Crafting
the Native American Love Flute" was a labor of love in the hopes
that some young man or woman will be inspired to create their own flute.
I'm most humbled by the many gifts both physical and spiritual these instruments
have given me and it is with great respect that I strive to give something
back.
Thanks for taking the time to read
about my passion for The Native American Flute and Drum. If you've read
this far, I bet your passionate about these magical instruments too!
In a Good Way.
